Questions
How much can I withdraw at 60?
Under PFRDA's exit rules amended in December 2025, non-government subscribers (All Citizen and Corporate models) must put at least 20% of the corpus into an annuity and can take up to 80% as a lump sum. Government employees must still annuitise at least 40%. If the corpus is ₹8 lakh or less, all of it can be withdrawn.
Is the NPS return guaranteed?
No. NPS is market-linked; returns depend on your mix of equity, corporate bonds and government securities. The annuity rate depends on the insurer and plan you pick at retirement.
Is the pension taxable?
Yes. The monthly annuity (pension) is added to your income and taxed at your slab rate.
