Questions
What is the difference between margin and markup?
Margin is profit as a percentage of the selling price; markup is profit as a percentage of the cost. Buying at ₹800 and selling at ₹1,000 gives a 20% margin but a 25% markup.
How do I price for a target margin?
Selling price = Cost ÷ (1 − margin). For a 30% margin on a ₹800 cost: 800 ÷ 0.70 = ₹1,142.86.
Should GST be included?
Use prices without GST. GST is collected for the government and is not part of your profit.
